Security and AI

Security.

It’s a big issue in any company using AI:

👉 What does AI “know” about me if I use a tool?
👉 How do I keep my proprietary information private?
👉 Can I use AI and still obey HIPAA? The code of the American Bar Association? HR rules? Some other code of conduct I must follow?
👉 Soooo many other questions of privacy.

The good news is: you can keep your information secure, and the capabilities for doing so are expanding. Here are some quick tips to enhance security:

1. Understand the difference between your app and “the model.” Your app remembers things about you, that does not necessarily mean your information is available on the model.

2. Turn off “training the model” on your AI app. If you use ChatGPT this is called “improve the model for others” in Settings.

3. Consider creating a local app or automation, rather than using an AI for conversations around proprietary or sensitive information.

4. Do not use real information when creating a prototype. Use fake patient information, legal data, etc. Sandboxing is expanding on AI tools.
